A Comprehensive Guide to Obtaining Tifa and Barret's Outfits in FFXIV's Keybound Brawler Event

Unlock the stylish attire of Tifa and Barret in the latest Final Fantasy 14 crossover event, 'Keybound Brawlers,' a thrilling collaboration with Final Fantasy 7. Unlike Cloud's classic outfit, which has long been a staple, these new additions draw inspiration from the recent FF7 remake project. To adorn your character with these sought-after garments and an array of other FF7-themed cosmetics, you must triumph in challenging typing battles and accumulate a unique event currency.

Players aiming to claim Tifa and Barret's outfits must engage in the Keybound Brawler event, which commenced on October 28th and will continue until the launch of Final Fantasy 14's patch 8.0, coinciding with the 'Evercold' expansion's release in January. The entry requirements for this event are straightforward: achieve level 15, successfully complete one of the primary scenario quests—"The Gridanian Envoy," "The Ul'dahn Envoy," or "The Lominsan Envoy"—and gain access to the Gold Saucer. A keyboard is, naturally, an essential tool for participation in this typing-focused mini-game.

By emerging victorious in these Keybound Brawler matches, participants will earn Manderville Gold Saucer Credits (MGC), distinct from the usual Manderville Gold Saucer Points (MGP) acquired through standard Gold Saucer activities. These MGCs can then be exchanged for the coveted outfits at the MGC Trader located within Keybound Square. Acquiring all four pieces of Tifa's ensemble will cost 1,380 MGC, while Barret's five-piece attire requires 1,570 MGC. Successfully navigating all three waves of a brawl can net you between 200 and 340 MGC, depending on your final score, meaning roughly six to twelve matches are needed to secure both outfits. It is important to remember that these outfits are gender-locked, a detail to consider when deciding your acquisition priorities.

Embarking on the Keybound Brawler event involves a trip to the Gold Saucer in Thanalan, where you initiate the "Keyward Bound" side quest by conversing with the Catlike Mammet at coordinates 5.4, 7.0. Following this, a discussion with W'zazanh at the Wonder Square (6.1, 7.3) will grant you passage into Keybound Square, where you can finalize the quest by interacting with the Magitype Master. Given the absence of direct teleportation, returning to Keybound Square in the future will always require seeking out W'zazanh. To engage in the typing brawls themselves, consult the Keybound Registrar NPC at 5.8, 6.0. While group queuing is an option, solo players can also be matched with others. Each match unfolds in three waves, where your objective is to thwart enemies from reaching your barrier by accurately typing the words displayed above them. Punctuation and accents are crucial, though case sensitivity is not. Failure to protect your barrier and allowing your party's HP to deplete will result in a lost brawl. Beyond MGCs, successful completion of the final wave also rewards a keybound coffer, which may contain various treasures from foodstuffs to unique weapons like the Adamant Rod. The event boasts a wide array of rewards available for MGC exchange, including the Magitek Scorpion mount and several Orchestrion Rolls, providing ample incentives for players to test their typing prowess.

The journey through the 'Keybound Brawlers' event not only offers a chance to personalize your Final Fantasy XIV experience with iconic Final Fantasy VII attire but also encourages the development of quick reflexes and precision. Engaging with these challenges demonstrates a commitment to mastering new mechanics and adapting to unique gameplay, fostering a spirit of perseverance and strategic thinking that enriches the gaming community.
