Nintendo has once again made its highly coveted 'The Legend of Zelda – 40th Anniversary Edition Switch 2' hardware available for purchase directly through its official digital storefront. On Thursday, eager fans witnessed a brief window of opportunity to acquire the device, though intense online traffic quickly led to fluctuating stock levels. The official Nintendo site faced significant strain from the surge in demand, with units appearing and disappearing in rapid succession. Shortly after the announcement of renewed availability, the console was once again listed as out of stock.
The 'Nintendo Switch 2 – The Legend of Zelda – 40th Anniversary Edition' made its official debut on Thursday, October 29th. In an effort to satisfy the enormous consumer interest, Nintendo attempted to replenish its inventory of the special edition console. This exclusive gaming system carries a price tag of $519.99.
Unveiled during a Nintendo Direct presentation in September, the 'Legend of Zelda'-themed Switch 2 console boasts a striking black, gold, and green color palette. This design directly evokes the iconic imagery associated with the series' protagonist, Link, and his revered Triforce of Courage. The console itself, along with its accompanying controllers, is adorned with intricate triangular motifs that encircle a prominent Triforce symbol and the distinguished Hylian Crest. Initial pre-orders for this console went live in early September and were almost instantaneously depleted.
Beyond the console, Nintendo also introduced 'Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition' versions of the Pro Controller. Priced at $99.99, which is $10 more than a standard Pro Controller, this accessory is also currently unavailable. Additionally, a 'Zelda'-themed carrying case and screen protector were released, but fresh supplies of these complementary items also appear to be exhausted.
Unfortunately for those still seeking to purchase the console, prominent retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, Target, and Walmart have all indicated that the 'Nintendo Switch 2 – The Legend of Zelda – 40th Anniversary Edition' is completely sold out across their platforms.
