The highly anticipated expansion pass for Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave introduces a host of new features, with its first wave of downloadable content bringing forth a collection of powerful weapons. These exclusive armaments are designed to enhance your gameplay experience, providing a distinct advantage to your army. Access to these items is contingent upon purchasing the expansion pass, marking them as premium content for dedicated players.
Upon successfully acquiring and installing the Fortune's Weave expansion pass, players will receive an in-game notification signaling the availability of new weaponry. This message alludes to a specific subquest required for their retrieval, though it remains intentionally vague regarding the precise details of its location and timing. Understanding the mechanics behind this quest is crucial for anyone looking to add these tools to their arsenal.
Each of the four main Flame Lords is associated with a distinct subquest, designed to award them with their unique DLC weapon. These quests become accessible once the bulletin board within Dagsion is unlocked, an event that typically occurs around Chapter 4 of the main story. The exact timing can vary slightly depending on the chosen character; for instance, Dietrich may take longer to reach this point due to initial tutorial sequences, while Cai often gains access sooner in Chapter 3. The bulletin board's availability is clearly indicated on the map by a distinctive parchment icon, which glows a prominent gold-orange when a new quest awaits.
The process of acquiring these coveted weapons through their respective subquests is straightforward and relatively swift. Players must first accept the quest from the bulletin board. Following this, they will be directed to an enigmatic individual located within the "streets" area of the city, specifically to the northeast of the market stalls, a location familiar to those who completed the "Monster in the Night" quest. Engaging with this character will instantly grant the Flame Lord their unique weapon. To collect all four DLC weapons, this procedure must be repeated for each of the Flame Lords.
The collection of DLC weapons includes four distinct prototypes, each tailored to a specific Flame Lord and weapon type: Dietrich receives the Prototype I Sword, Leda is granted the Prototype V Axe, Theodora obtains the Prototype XI Bow, and Cai acquires the Prototype VII Spear. While these weapons are presented as being exclusive to their respective Flame Lords, it is important to note that any character within your army can wield them, offering strategic flexibility.
These prototype weapons draw inspiration from the Hero's Relics featured in Three Houses, distinguished by their powerful attributes but also by a lower durability rating compared to standard armaments. This reduced durability means they can withstand fewer combat arts before requiring repair at a blacksmith. Despite this drawback, their inherent power makes them well worth the maintenance. All four Prototype weapons can be upgraded to a +2 status, significantly boosting both their durability and offensive capabilities. A fully enhanced Prototype weapon surpasses the strength of a similarly upgraded iron weapon, making them a valuable asset in your campaigns.
For players who have already progressed beyond a Flame Lord's Part 1, integrating these new weapons requires a specific approach. It is advisable to replay Chapter 12 for that particular Flame Lord to acquire the Prototype weapon. Similar to any modifications made in Part 1, completing the final chapter of that section is essential for any changes to be carried over into Parts 2 and 3. Replaying Chapter 12 proves to be a more efficient and less cumbersome method to obtain the weapon and continue with your ongoing progress, ensuring that the powerful armaments seamlessly join your strategic options for future endeavors.
